90% of women fear this...

We must have been in a meeting where someone walks in already shrinking themselves by apologizing about how they look or sound perhaps in the hope that others will be less inclined to judge their appearance. Often, these moments are manifestations of a quiet persistent force that I will explain...

For many women, the pursuit of professional success comes with an invisible burden of how they look, how they are percieved and whether they measure up to society's narrow standards.

I'm not disputing that this features themselves are unattractive but the belief that possessing them is a prequisite for being considered beautiful or worthy, making many women feel they must earn acceptance by fitting into a template they were never designed to fit.

You will agree with me that excessive self-monitoring can consume mental energy that could otherwise go toward problem-solving, creativity and critical thinking. Constant exposure to polished images and conventional beauty standards can create the feeling that other women are more attractive, confident or well presented.

And that comparison can spill into professional self-worth, performing actual worth and managing constant anxiety of how they look creates an additional psychological workload.

Consequentially, the most damaging aspect of body insecurity in women is trying too hard change your body, allowing that perception to determine what you believe you deserve and how boldly you allow yourself to participate in life.

The true professional empowerment is freeing ourselves from the exhausting pursuit of physical flawlessness. A more practical starting point is to have a tool for understanding and expressing your body.

Tools that accommodate, helping you feel at home in the body you already have.
