AUGUST 2026
OUR MONTH OF THE NEW THING
Monthly Anchor Scripture
"Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert."
Isaiah 43:18–19 (KJV)
DAY 8
WEEK 1 — RECOGNIZING THE NEW THING
Focus: Discernment, fresh eyes, new season awareness.
Reality: God's new thing often begins where our comfort zone ends.
The Courage to Leave the Familiar
Anchor Scripture
Hebrews 11:8 (NKJV)
"By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going."
Opening Thought
Every new beginning requires the courage to leave something behind.
God rarely performs a new thing while we cling to old habits, old fears, and familiar places. Growth begins when faith becomes greater than comfort.
Reflection
Abraham left his homeland.
Moses left the palace.
Ruth left Moab.
Peter left the boat.
Each of them stepped into uncertainty because they trusted the God who called them.
The familiar feels safe because it is predictable, but God's greatest opportunities often exist beyond what is comfortable.
Perhaps the new thing God has prepared for you requires learning a new skill, starting a new assignment, forgiving someone, pursuing a new vision, or simply trusting Him in ways you never have before.
Do not allow comfort to become the enemy of God's purpose.
Faith always moves forward.
Prayer
Lord, give me the courage to leave behind every fear, limitation, and comfort that prevents me from following Your leading. Help me trust You completely as I step into the new things You have prepared for my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Declarations
- I choose faith over fear.
- God is leading me into greater purpose.
- My future is brighter than my past.
- I embrace every new opportunity God places before me.
- I walk boldly into God's new thing.
Spirit Challenge
Identify one area where fear or comfort has delayed your obedience. Take one practical step today toward the future God is calling you to embrace.
Closing Exhortation
God never asks you to leave the familiar without already preparing something greater ahead. Trust His leading, obey His voice, and watch Him unfold the new thing He promised.
Live differently.
