Opening Thought
For centuries, global cartography was dominated by projection models that severely distorted the true physical footprint of the African continent. On standard Mercator maps, vast landmasses were visually shrunk, creating a subtle, systemic lie in classrooms across the globe that led billions to believe European nations were physically larger or geographically more dominant than entire African regions. When narratives, histories, or visuals are deliberately bent to misrepresent reality, they diminish identity and warp understanding. Writing or crafting intentional lies to shape minds is a spiritual travesty.
As kingdom creators, writers, filmmakers, and storytellers, our calling is to reclaim cultural narratives through unyielding truth. True storytelling does not manipulate or deceive; it captivates, transforms, and restores people to their true history, lineage, and spiritual heritage in Christ. Whether through film, literature, poetry, or parabolic songs, we are called to tell Godly stories—stories of courage, holiness, and righteous victory that dismantle institutional deceptions and point humanity back to the God of all truth.
Reflection
Scripture shows that artistic expression, narrative, and sound have always carried culture-shaping and spiritual power:
Praise That Destroys Strongholds: When Israel marched around Jericho with instruments and a unified shout of thanksgiving, physical and spiritual walls collapsed (Joshua 6).
Anointed Music That Heals: When David played his harp before Saul, the anointed melody drove away tormenting spirits and restored peace (1 Samuel 16:23).
Worship That Breaks Chains: When Paul and Silas sang praises to God at midnight in a Philippian dungeon, an earthquake shook the foundations, opened prison doors, and freed every captive (Acts 16:25–26).
A Story of Personal Legacy: Reframing the Map Within
For years, I looked at the maps hung in my childhood classroom, believing that my homeland was small, quiet, and secondary on the global stage. I assumed that real history was written elsewhere, across distant oceans in lands that appeared massive on paper.
Because I accepted the visual lie, I made the mistake of looking outward for validation, trying to copy systems and styles that were never designed for my assignment. I spent years measuring my capacity by a distorted scale—a mistake our ancestors also made whenever they traded their divine birthright for foreign approval.
It was only when I searched deeper into true cartography, history, and above all, the Word of God, that the scale was corrected. I realized that Africa easily holds the landmass of major global powers combined, and more importantly, that my identity was never anchored in a cartographer’s ink, but in the blood of Christ. Do not make the mistake of measuring your divine inheritance by a distorted scale. Trace your lineage back to the Truth.
The Song of the Unbroken Lineage (A Functional Poem)
They drew the lines with crooked ink,
To tell the child what he should think;
They shrunk the land and stretched the sea,
To hide a giant’s legacy.
But ink can never bind the earth,
Nor measure what the Spirit’s worth.
Rise up, ye sons of light and grace,
And take your true, appointed place!
Like David’s harp that broke the night,
Like Jericho walls that fell from sight,
Our songs shall rend the chains of lies,
And lift the truth before our eyes.
In Christ we trace our royal strain,
Above the loss, beyond the pain;
A holy nation, brave and free,
Reclaiming our true history!
Prayer
Lord God of Truth, Sovereign over all nations and histories, thank You for calling me as a steward of story, art, and truth. Forgive me for any time I have believed or perpetuated distorted narratives about who I am or where I come from. Anoint my voice, my pen, my creative media, and my songs like the harp of David, to bring healing, clarity, and deliverance. Give me the courage to write and produce works that reframe national culture, expose deception, and restore this generation to their true spiritual heritage in Christ. In Jesus' name, Amen.
