Healthy Habits That Influence Others | August 26 Devotional

AUGUST 2026

OUR MONTH OF THE NEW THING

Monthly Anchor Scripture

"Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert."

Isaiah 43:18–19 (KJV)

DAY 26

WEEK 4 — BECOMING THE NEW THING

Focus: Influence, leadership, service, and societal transformation.

Reality: God’s new thing is not only for you; it is meant to bless others.

Healthy Habits That Influence Others

Anchor Scripture

1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (NKJV)

“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

Opening Thought

Your physical health, daily routines, and lifestyle choices are far more spiritual than you might think.

You cannot effectively fulfill a long-term divine mission if your physical body is worn down by neglect, poor stewardship, and unhealthy habits.

Furthermore, your personal discipline serves as a silent, powerful witness to your family, workplace, and community.

When people see a believer living with self-control, physical vitality, emotional stability, and clean habits, it inspires them to evaluate their own lifestyle.

Personal stewardship is a tool for public influence.

Reflection

Daniel and his three friends understood that their physical diet and personal discipline were tied to their spiritual witness. They chose not to defile themselves with the king's rich food, and after ten days, they looked healthier and stronger than all the rest (Daniel 1:12–15).

Healthy lifestyle stewardship involves balance across essential areas:

  • Nourishment: Making intentional, healthy food choices that honor your physical temple.

  • Rest: Honor God through adequate sleep, resting your mind, and Sabbath reflection.

  • Movement: Keeping your body active and disciplined through regular exercise.

  • Mental Renewal: Guarding your mind against toxic stress, burnout, and chronic anxiety.

When you steward your body wisely, you carry the stamina required to build the new thing God has entrusted to you while inspiring everyone around you to live better.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the gift of my physical body. Forgive me for times I have neglected my health through bad habits or lack of discipline. Give me the self-control to eat well, exercise, rest adequately, and manage stress. Let my physical vitality become a lasting testimony of Your discipline and grace. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Declarations

  • My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, steward with wisdom and discipline.
  • I operate in physical energy, mental clarity, and spiritual strength daily.
  • My healthy lifestyle habits inspire my family, colleagues, and community.
  • I reject exhaustion and embrace God’s design for health and rest.

Spirit Challenge

Commit to making one immediate healthy lifestyle choice today—such as drinking extra water, taking a 20-minute walk, or going to bed early to ensure proper rest.

Closing Exhortation

Your body is the vehicle for your earthly assignment. Take care of the vessel so that God can work through you for years to come.
